PHARMACEUTICAL MICROBIOLOGY

This is the study of microorganisms that are involved in the manufacturing of pharmaceutical products, as well as the study of microorganism by-products such as exotoxin and endotoxin. Pharmaceutical microbiology is used in the creation of anti-infective agents, the detection of mutagenic and carcinogenic activity in potential drugs using microorganisms, and the production of pharmaceutical products such as insulin and human growth hormone.
